Class of 2024: Important Financial Aid Information

Dear Class of 2024-

Below is some imperative information regarding the 2024-2024 FAFSA. Please read the notes below from the GSFC.

GSFC is committed to assisting your seniors in completing the FAFSA as they pursue their academic path after high school. As you all know, the FAFSA was delayed this year due to updating the application and processes. Additional information was just released regarding the launch and the completion data of the 2024-2025 FAFSA.

Some highlights:

  • Soft Launch period will be from December 31st through the end of January. During this time, FSA will conduct pauses in the application process for maintenance.

  • FSA has asked that students “do not rush to fill out the form immediately” during the soft launch.

  • During the soft launch, applicants may experience a wait room feature that is designed to control website volume.

  • Site maintenance during the soft launch may interrupt the application process and the student will need to log in at another date to complete the application.

  • Colleges the student selected on the FAFSA will not begin to receive the information until late January into early February, so students can expect to see communications from the colleges “several weeks” after that time.

  • GSFC will not begin to receive completion data until the end of February at the earliest and will provide completion data to counselors or approved staff from institution administrators at that time.

  • Finally, FSA recommends not holding FAFSA events until after January to account for unscheduled site maintenance which would impact completion events.

NOHS will host their financial aid event on Tuesday, January 30th at 6:00 pm in the fine arts auditorium at NOHS.

For additional information regarding the messages from FSA – please see the link below: 2024–25 FAFSA Soft Launch Details and Timelines | Knowledge Center Please reach out directly to your GSFC Outreach Representative or email us at: outreach@gsfc.org if you have questions. The outreach team has reviewed all aspects of the new FAFSA and are available to assist you and your students.

Happy Holidays from GSFC!
