Applications must be submitted by September 9, 2022, at 5 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted. Selected students will be contacted via email. All students may visit gadoe.org/student advisory on October 11, 2022, at 10 a.m., to see whether they have been accepted. Please note that we typically receive hundreds more applications than we are able to accept, and not being selected for the Student Advisory Council does not mean the student’s application did not meet qualifications.

Eligible Students

All students in grades 10-12 are eligible to apply. We are not accepting applications from any other grade levels this year. Please note that we are seeking a range of students with unique perspectives. Questions such as GPA are included to ensure we are receiving feedback from all students, not just those with the highest grades. There is no required GPA to participate in the Student Advisory Council.

About the Student Advisory Council

The State School Superintendent's Student Advisory Council is a group of students in grades 9-12 who discuss how decisions made at the state level are affecting students throughout Georgia. Members meet throughout the school year with State Superintendent Woods and are advisors who act as liaisons between the Department of Education and the students of Georgia.

Students may apply for the advisory council at the beginning of each school year by obtaining an application from their school or from this website. Members are chosen by a committee of Georgia Department of Education representatives based on the applicant's response to questions.
